12 Baptized to Start the New Year

Twelve People Were Baptized at Victory Christian Church in Barangay Sugnod

Saturday January 4 2014, started the New Year with 12 baptisms at Barangay Sugnod. Barangay Sugnod in a remote area of Malinoa, Aklan.

Three weeks earlier we fed 126 families about 5000 pounds of rice and we are now in the process of repairing 9 family homes and the church because of Typhoon Yolanda. This is a huge blessing from our Lord!

We started a church in Sugnod about a year ago. The church building was almost completed, and then Typhoon Yolanda hit. The Typhoon devastated this remote area very close to the eye of the typhoon. Many are able to help their selves. Yet also many are unable to restart.

One Lady’s Story

One lady started coming to church weeks before Typhoon Yolanda. She is an older lady mostly blind with what looks like cataracts. She is raising her 4 year old granddaughter. Her house is on the road as you come into Sugnod. Typhoon Yolanda took major portions of her roof and her house leans now. Her house is scheduled to be fixed by us this week, we pray. It is hard to get supplies into Sugnod because the bridge is gone from the typhoon. In the meanwhile she and the granddaughter sleep under a table in the house to keep the rain off of them. It’s rainy season there now.

On January 4, she was one of the twelve people baptized. That night at the worship service in Sugnod she testified that, for the first time in her life, she felt peace she could not explain.
