Thank You Lord!

No damage to lungs, but inside mouth throat and nose are burned and will recover. There is a good chance his face and neck will not scare. Arms and hands will have some scaring but not too bad. His fever broke this morning. So he will go home with antibiotics and pain meds.

He is still not out of the woods for infection. Please continue to keep him and his family in prayers!

Thank you Lord Jesus for Your goodness, mercy, and grace! We pray You will allow us to know Your goodness and purpose in this.

Rom 8:28 And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to His purpose for them.

Pastor Alagos Badly Burned!

My dear friend and partner in the Grace Chapel Ministry was badly burned today. Please pray for him and his family.

This morning at 5:00am Pastor Alejo Alagos was lighting the gas oven at the bakery and it exploded in his face. He has first degree burns covering his face and neck. He also has first and second degree burns covering both arms and hands. He has some damage to his lungs. Infection is now the thing that could make things worse. They estimate his stay in the hospital to be at least one week.

No infection is the prayer most needed now.

As Pastor Alagos sat on his hospital bed severely burned he kept repeated this verse. Rom 8:28 And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose. Amen!

Many in these remote barangays are too poor to send their kids to school.
The Philippine government pays for the fulltime alternative school teacher.
The Barangays are blessed with a fulltime Pastor, a building to worship in, and an alternative school.

Report for 2011

My family and I moved to the Philippines to minister fulltime to the Pilipinos. We have a home Juliana built about 20 years ago. It is comfortable but in need of many repairs. Lord willing, step by step over the next year or two, we will add some rooms, and accomplish needed repairs.
Our evangelist, Pastor Alejo Alagos and I have become close friends. He is also my interpreter, so we travel together. The Lord has blessed us as partners in this ministry.
10 students were supported by scholarships. These are students that perform well in school. Without the scholarship, they would not be able to go to school.
Our fourth new church was started. River Rock Church Esparar is located at Barangay Esparar, Barbaza, Antique. Currently, there are 3 bible studies going with about 25 regular attendees. We are negotiating a place to build the church building. They have a full time Pastor, Alex Egloria. Pastor Alex is an experienced church planter and Pastor. He is 67 years old and is moving to Esparar to live among them. By providence, the Barangay was named after his Grandmother’s family name. Pastor Alagos is also a school principal. He has arranged for the government to use the Esparar church building for an alternative school. The government will pay the fulltime teacher. It’s a double blessing for Barangay Esparar.
With praise to our Lord, we celebrated the 5^th year anniversary of Grace Chapel, the 4^th year of Tabernacle of Praise, and first year of Hill of Zion.
The youth from Grace Chapel, Tabernacle of Praise and Hill of Zion met together for a Leadership Youth Camp.
I was the guest speaker for the youth camp and 10 churches. Some of these churches I was invited back to shared more of the Gospel. Each time many came forward to recommit their lives in repentance, and many were saved, thank you Lord!

Projection for 2012, Lord willing!

· We have many to baptize. We will hire jeepneys and bring them out of their remote locations to the ocean. Thank you Lord for the harvest!

· We are praying the Lord will provide funds to build 3 churches this year. We have 3 locations that currently have bible studies and ready Pastors. We will launch the church with a two night Concert Crusade. Many pastors and church workers will canvas the Barangays and invite them to the Crusade. They will go back after the Crusade and follow-up with bible studies. After the groups are formed, we will build the church building and provide a salary for the Pastor for one year as he gets the church started. This model has worked successfully in starting Tabernacle of Praise, Hill of Zion, and RRC Esparar. Each church plant is $4000.

· Provide scholarships for 12 students. The scholarship is $25 per month for the 10 month school year.

· Establish River Rock Church as a recognized nondenominational church in the Philippines. This will allow our pastors to perform weddings in the remote areas. This is an extremely beneficial ministry. It will also allow us to ordain and certify our Pastors.

· Establish the framework of a Pastor Training College.

· In April, Lord willing, Pastor Alagos and I will travel to the USA. Pastor Alagos will be commissioned as an Elder of River Rock Church.

Pastor Alagos and I were busy the month of December 2011.

Besides our regular services at Grace Chapel and Tabernacle of Praise, we were the guest speakers for 6 churches for Thanks Giving/Christmas Celebrations, a Leadership Youth Camp, and 3 New Year celebrations.

Thank you for your prayers and support. Without you, this ministry would not be possible!

I will post a pictorial report in a few days when I go to a high speed Internet spot.

This picture is my laptop. This desktop picture serves as my daily reminder. It says, like Peter, I’ve gotten out of the boat. However, I could not do this ministry without my eyes firmly fixed on Jesus! Sometimes I miss this goal, but in spite of my faithfulness, the Lord is always faithful. I’m learning to walk and sometimes swim with the Lord!

2Corintians 8:3-4 I was there and saw it for myself. They gave offerings of whatever they could--far more than they could afford!-- pleading for the privilege of helping out in the relief of poor Christians. NIV

Merry Christmas Grace Chapel Partners!

Merry Christmas from the Philippines

My internet is too slow to send pictures or create something fancy. I have to travel to San Jose or La Parola to get a higher speed internet.

Many have asked, so I will let you all know that the flooding in the Philippines missed us. It was at an island south of us in Mindanao. Many are dead and displaced so please continue to pray for them.

For Steven and I this is our first Christmas in the Philippines. It feels more like summer. In fact, it is summer here. The Christmas spirit is excellent!

A lot of families are too poor to buy presents. The giving of gifts and Santa Clause seems to be less important.

Steven will only get one small gift this year. We have told him it is because we live in a different culture and explained the difference of his Filipino neighbors and family. Steven understands. Many times this past two weeks he has told me it is okay he only gets one gift. I believe he is genuinely happy to adjust.

The Christmas spirit here is more about Christ, it seems. Here is an example of what I mean. This is a quote from the Department of Education in San Jose. It reads in part, “To developing functionally literate and God loving Filipinos”. All schools, including public school, celebrate with great activity Christmas.

My Christmas present from our Lord is being the guest speaker at 5 Churches the month of December. They are the San Rafael Christian Community Church, Hill of Zion Community Church, Buena Vista Christian Community Center, Tabernacle of Praise Community Church, and Gateway Church. For the November Thanksgiving Celebrations I spoke at Buena Vista Christian Community Center, Jesus is Lord Church, and Tabernacle of Praise Community Church.

I guess what amazes me most about speaking at these churches is preaching is not my gift. I believe the Lord blesses my passion and He is present with the Holy Spirit at these services. I have had the great honor of witnessing the Holy Spirit moving the hearts of these congregations.

Tabernacle of Praise 4th Thanksgiving Anniversary Celebration

I thought I would share some photos of the Tabernacle of Praise 4^th Thanksgiving Anniversary Celebration this past Sunday. I was the guest speaker and Pastor Alagos was my interpreter.

Tabernacle of Praise’ pastor is Alejo Alagos, my friend and our partner in starting new churches here in the Philippines. Tabernacle of Praise was the next church started after Grace Chapel. Tabernacle of Praise is our model for starting new churches.

Almost a dozen churches where there to celebrate with us. Among them were our first 4 churches that we started; Grace Chapel, Hill of Zion, River Rock Church Esparar and of course Tabernacle of Praise. Also present where the churches that help us in our partnership of starting Christian Churches in Brgy’s where there is none. These Churches are Gateway Church, New Life Mission Church, and Tomyong Christian Fellowship. The other 6 churches present where church’s pastor Alagos has started in his 27 years of ministry. Pastor Alagos has amazingly started 27 churches in 27 years of ministry.

Pastor Alagos will accompany me this April 2012 to visit you all in American. We would love to meet with as many of you as possible

HAPPY THANKSGIVING

In America, we have the annual tradition that was started by our forefathers of being thankful for the Lord’s abundant blessings of the past year.

King David captured the heart of being thankful when he wrote “O LORD my God, You have performed many wonders for us. Your plans for us are too numerous to list. You have no equal. If I tried to recite all Your wonderful deeds, I would never come to the end of them.” (Psalms 40:5 NLT)

In the Philippines, we also have the tradition of Thanksgiving. It is not based on historical tradition of a country but on the Church being thankful of the many blessings from our Lord. Each November the churches celebrate Thanksgiving. It’s a glorious celebration with food and guest speakers. They celebrate the years the Lord has blessed their church. All this month I went to churches celebrating with them.

I can tell you, after living in America the richest nation in the world and now living in Antique the poorest province in the Philippines, that God is faithful with blessings regardless of wealth or assets. God is indeed full of “wonderful deeds” “too numerous to list.”

Our target is the remote barangays of the Philippines that has no church. We bring the Gospel and establish His Church where there is none.

Our method is straightforward.

We obtain permission from the barangay officials.

We canvas and invite the people of the barangay to a 2 night Christian Concert Crusade. Jesus Saves Concert Crusade the banners read.

We bring the Gospel through song and preaching at the Crusade.

We get the names of those who come forward at the call.

We follow up and create home Bible studies.

We build a bamboo church and parsonage with steel roof and cement floor.

Call a pastor. We provide an income for one year and help him build a long term ability to provide for himself.

The pastor continues to build and establish the congregation and work of the Lord in that barangay.

We provide ongoing training and spiritual support for the pastor.

Our goal is to provide a church a firm foothold. Later the congregations will replace the bamboo with concrete block and expand as needed. Tabernacle of Praise was just this way. They now have a bigger church building, and it is concrete block. It is a beautiful building. But more notable is the congregation is mature and in the active process of establishing more church like theirs.

We have an established track record for this ministry. These are the successful fruits of our labor in the Lord.

This film is the end of each of the two nights of the JESUS SAVES CONCERT CRUSADE at Brgy Esparar, Barbaza Antique, Philippines. Those saved at this Crusade are a new Christian Church at Brgy Esparar. They are a new portion of The Body of Christ. There is no other Christian Church in Esparar.

The Born Again Band presented the Gospel in song. Pastor and Evangelist Alejo Alagos presented the Gospel message, and call for Salvation. “The Lord added.”

2nd Night at Brgy Esparar Church Launch

Wednesday November 2, 2011

Jesus Saves Concert Crusade is what the banner read. His name was held high, His love was proclaimed clearly, and He blessed us all with His presents and glory!

The first night more than 20 people came forward at the call to receive Jesus as their Lord and Savior.

The second night more than 60 people came at the invitation!!!! We estimate another 20% in the back raised their hands to received Christ, but didn’t come forward. Included to be saved the second night was the Brgy Captain. She took some criticism for allowing a “non Catholic Religion” crusade in the Brgy. Then on the second night she was the first up front at the alter-call.

We estimated 200-250 people from the Brgy were there the second night. Plus, we were about 60 workers from Grace Chapel, Tabernacle of Praise, Hill of Zion, and Gateway Churches. Many Pastors from other Churches were there to help.

Pastor Alagos exclaimed Wow, thank You Lord, as the people literally rushed forward to be saved. Tears of joy streamed down my face as I watched in amazement the power of the Holy Spirit moving hearts to receive The Lord Jesus as Savior! Many of the pastors were visibly stunned at the response. Then quickly they began praying with them, and taking names for follow up.

All of your prayers for this new Church were answered. The Lord’s people both in the US and here were mighty in prayer, and the Lord had a huge harvest of His people in Brgy Esparar.

Please continue to pray for the follow up calls, and new cell groups for Bible Studies. We will have 4-5 cell group studies. In two to three weeks we will start building the church building, Lord willing.

I told Pastor Alagos this is a confirmation from the Lord we are in His will. Please keep us in your prayers that we continue in His will and blessing!

Psa 90:16 Let us, Your servants, see You work again; let our children see Your glory.

Psa 90:17 And may the Lord our God show us His approval and make our efforts successful. Yes, make our efforts successful! NLT

First Night at the Brgy Esparar Church Launch

After two weeks of intense planning, hanging banners, TV announcements, meeting with families, getting permits and permission from the Brgy officials, and door to door canvassing the concert, praise, and evangelism first night came.

The Reborn Band was a total hit! They were first-class and presented the Gospel in song. They are indeed blessed and talented. I learned that 60% of the Philippine population is young people. Their music and guest singers were on the mark for their audience.

Pastor Alagos gave the message. His message was powerful and blessed. We had a massive sound system that reached the entire Brgy. More than 100 people came out to the event and more than 20 received Jesus Christ as their Savior!

There were two more wonderful praises.

The lady I told you about before that we prayed for healing came tonight. Both she and her husband had received Jesus as their Savior when Ptr Alagos prayed for healing two weeks ago. She could not get out of her house because she didn’t walk well. Also, she had a rash that covered her face. Well, she walked to the concert and her rash was gone. The old skin was almost gone and new beautiful skin was appearing. She is a big testimony to the community.
Also, one of the leaders of the Philippine rebel Army (NPA) was saved. He is a significant leader among the men and boys there. Giving his life to the lord will have an enormous testimony in the Brgy. Please keep him in prayers.

Please keep night two, tonight, in your prayers.

We had rain on and off, so this is why many wore towels on their heads. This is common to see in the Philippines. J

Ø We will launch a new Church at Brgy Esparar, Lord willing, this Nov. 1 & 2.

Ø The Launch is a two day concert, evangelistic preaching and prayers for healing at the Brgy Esparar center.

Ø We have radio and local TV bulletins about the launch to the surrounding communities going on now, one week before the event.

Ø We have 8-10 Pastors that will go door to door at Brgy Esparar two days before the launch. They will then come back over a 30 day period with follow up of the new converts and Bible studies.

Ø The Pastor will be Pastor Alex. He is an Elder/Pastor and his family is from that community.

My dear Grace Chapel Partners,

I’m sorry; it has been awhile since my last communication. I have been busy preaching in many Churches. Each week is a new challenge for a new message. Preparing a weekly message is a new experience for me. The Lord has been faithful in helping me with my messages. I’m feeling comfortable delivering messages now. Thank You Lord! Some churches invite me back, and new Churches have asked me to come preach. Pastor Alagos is my friend and interpreter. The Lord has blessed me with my friend and partner Pastor Alagos. With the help of Pastor Alagos, this ministry is successful. Like Paul and Barnabas, we continue down the remote roads of the Philippines planting Churches where there is none. We also encourage Churches and Pastors along the way. My ministry is like Barnabas the encourager. Pastor Alagos’ reputation and contacts are remarkably used, by God, to open the doors for this ministry.

In the last News Letter, I shared with you a new Church we started to plant at Brgy (Barangay) Buhang, in Hamtic. We discovered there was already a Christian Church being planted there. Our desire is to plant Churches in remote Brgy that have no Christian Church. As a result, we turned over the Bibles studies to their care.

One Church I had the pleasure of sharing God Word is Gateway Church. Gateway is a Home Church on the beach of Brgy Poblacion in the Municipality of Laua-An.

Gary is the Pastor at Gateway. Gateway Church will be one year old next month. The Church is connected to their home. Both Gary and his wife are High School teachers.

Gateway’s Elder/Pastor Alex started a Bible study in the remote Brgy Esparar, Barbaza Municipality. Barbaza is an hour north on the coast road. Esparar is another ½ hour on a gravel road east toward the mountains. Eight other Barangays are in close distance. They could worship in Esparar. Pastor Alex said he visited a Barangay near Esparar that had never heard the Gospel. Witchcraft is practiced in many of the remote Brgys.

Last week and this week we met with two families in Esparar to make plans to start a new Church there. Pastor Alagos led a husband and wife to the Lord today. They are neighbors of our host family in Esparar. We now have three families! Thank You Lord!

We are working on using our church building in Esparar as an Alternative School for kids that have dropped out of school or could not afford school. The Alternative school program is a Philippine government program. The Philippine government will pay the salary of the Alternative School teacher. This is an enormously needed program in the Brgy. There are many school age kids in these Brgy that no longer attend school. Alternative school graduates are given preference in hiring for jobs. I could not imagine a better outreach program for the Esparar Brgy.

Today, we had a planning meeting to launch the Esparar Church, Lord willing. We met in front of Gateway Church on the beach under the shade trees. There are many projects needed to be completed to launch this new Church. Please keep them in your prayers. The target date for the launch is November 1^st & 2^nd.

Please keep this new church plant in your prayers. Many powerful forces have tried to prevent us from planting Churches here in Antique. We need your continuous and vigilant prayers. Your intercessor prayers on our behalf are essential. Thank you!

Many of you answered my plea to donate money for the land to build the Buhang Church on. That money will be used for our next Church plant. Thank you for your glorious generosity. It is because of your prayers and charitable giving we are able to plant new Churches where there is none. May the Lord return to you 1000 fold.

The Cost of Buhang Christian Center

Hello Grace Chapel Partners,

Thank you

Again, this weekend was filled with joy and praise. What an excellent opportunity and privilege He has given us to love His people and children here in the Philippines. We, you and I, are indeed partners here in this Philippine Ministry. Without your love, prayers and generosity, my family and I would not be here serving in the Philippines and planting new Churches in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Together, with Pastor Alagos we have helped plant 3 Churches and we are in the process of establishing the fourth Church.

Praises

The new Church Buhang Christian Fellowship has enormous potential. Buhang is a large Barangay. There are other large Barangay in short distance that could easily be reached for the Lord through this new Church. We are praying this new Church will be across the street from the High School and Elementary School. These are large National schools. We are only a few kilometers from the St. Anthony’s College. Also, nearby are the Bible studies now taking place to establish this new Church.

The big praise was the study in the squatter’s area. Last week we only had about 12 attend. This week we had 30 children and 16 adults! Thank You Lord. We fed the children a nutritional snack. I mentioned last week a young man who had recently had his hand cut off. His name is Jun. Jun and his wife and son have opened their home for the study. I modified my message to reach the children. I pray the simplicity of the Gospel will also help the adults understand God’s passionate love for them.

I pray the Lord will help you experience the joy of helping these in greatest need of His love and salvation. Please pray the Lord will give Pastors Alagos, Zamora, his wife Jan and I the wisdom needed to minister here.

Please help

All of the Churches planted so far through Grace Chapel Ministries, and the many Churches Pastor Alagos have planted; each had the land donated for the church building. As a result, we have no budget to purchase land. However, this time it appears we will need to purchase land. I believe it is because we are so close to schools. All of the available lots are for sale and none to be donated. We have the possibility to purchase an excellent site with exceptional growth potential. This site is the same cost per square meter as the others. This one is the same cost and best location. We will be the only Christian Church in this and surrounding Barangays.

Another blessing is the school system will allow us to open an alternative school in this church building and will pay the teacher’s salary! This will be a tremendous outreach to educate the less-fortunate children. We will be a school during the week, a place to worship on the weekend and a facility to launch ministries to the community.

Can you help us purchase the land? It is 200 square meters for 100,000 pesos. It is about $2400 plus another $500 to prep the land to build the church building and parsonage. You may give to Grace Chapel through River Rock Church, Camas, WA.

Prayer Request

Please pray for the second Buhang Bible study. Last week and this week the host family had deaths in the family and funerals the same day as the study. Pray for the Lord to minister to them Lord. Pray that we will be able to minister to them.

Please pray for Julian and I as parents for Steven.

Please pray for me. I have considerable difficulty remembering people’s names and places. I also have even greater difficulty with the language.

Please pray for Pastor Alagos and his family. Pastor Alagos is both a full time school principal and Pastor/Evangelist. Pray that I will be a help and blessing to him and his family.

Please send me your prayer request. I will hold you up before our Lord.

One more Blessing

Pastor Alagos took me to the top of one of the mountains to give a message of encourage to a Church he helped planted 6 years ago. Their hospitality was a great blessing. Pastor Alagos worked with another retired missionary couple the Robinsons from Washington, England. Together, they established the Buenavista Christian Fellowship. Please pray for Mrs. Robinson as she is now suffering from cancer.

What an exciting week! Thank You Lord!!! I am totally in my element here. My experiences are night and day different than what life is like in American and I love the differences.

My travel this week was on the back of Pastor Alagos motorcycle. I also traveled by three-wheeled motorcycle. It’s a motorcycle with a sidecar. They pile people high on these. They were not made for a big guy like me. I’m packed in like a sardine. I’m giving the messages, and Pastor Alagos is interpreting.

Pastor Alagos took me to the Buhang Barangay in Hamtic. Buhang is where our new Church plant is taking place. The name of our new Church is Buhang Christian Fellowship. It was about a 45 minute ride through the side streets of San Jose and some beautiful country side with rice fields almost ready for harvest. It is the largest Barangay in the Hamtic municipality. There are 48 Barangay in Hamtic. I gave messages to two of the Bibles Studies going on there. I met the Pastor of our new Church, Carlos Zamora and his wife Jan.

The first study was in what they call the squatter’s area. They truly are the neediest of God’s creation. My heart pumped with compassion for them. What a privilege to have the opportunity to love them for the Lord. I know now why the Lord had me live two years unemployed and the experience of relying on Him day by day for survival. I shared that experience with them and God’s faithfulness through it. One young man had a bandage around his wrist. Someone had recently cut off his hand. He is a good looking young man with a friendly smile. There were about 12 who showed up. As I shared how much God loves them, some had tears in their eyes. Afterward, we prayed for the Lord to heal 4 people who are sick. Please hold these in the squatter’s area in your prayers. We will introduce a feeding program for the children next week. We will provide healthy food for the children that come to the service each week. Malnutrition is the life enemy of these children. We are talking about a school supply program for them. About 1300 pesos or $31 will provide their school supplies and uniforms for the school year. People really don’t know how much you love them until you start loving them. James says I’ll show you my faith by my actions.

The second study was at the Barangay Captain’s home. There was a funeral, so many were not available. About 8 people attended. Again tears were in some of the teen’s eyes. The Lord is reaching their hearts. We still do not have a site to build this Church so, please keep this in your prayers. At the end, of the day we went back to Grace Chapel for services at 5:00pm.

We were back on Pastor Alagos motorcycle heading for two remote mountain churches. Both Churches were started by Pastor Alagos. This time we were on some dangerous mountain muddy roads. We climbed some hills that were about 30 degrees by my estimation. Pastor Alagos said many have lost their lives on this road. But we are on our way with prayer and faith to encourage them through God’s Word and the testimony of my life. In every message, I tell them about love and prayers of Grace Chapel Partners and River Rock Church.

The first Church we visited was about a 45 minute ride. This remote mountain Barangay was in a spectacular farming valley. I told Pastor Alagos I could easily live here. If my goal were to sit back and retire in God’s beautiful countryside, this would be the place. This is the Sitio Culby Igburi Barangay of Patnongon. The Church was 7 years old and is called Blessed Hope Fellowship. It was rightly named. Several teachers attend this Church. We had a marvelous time of worship and fellowship.

The next Church was in a different Barangay. This Church was only two years old. It is the first church that has survived in this Barangay. Pastor Alagos said many denominations tried and failed because of the prevailing witchcraft practiced there. This Church was also named appropriately. It’s called Miracle of Life Fellowship. The walls were half constructed and the floor dirt. There are typically about thirty that attend, but today was about 10. What an opportunity to preach the truth of God’s Word in the heart of that Barangay and encourage the faith of His Church established in the heart of darkness. Because the walls are only half up, many strolled by to see what was happening. I pray the Holy Spirit was active in their hearts as Jesus was being glorified through His Gospel. Please pray for the Lord to provide a new, young Pastor. The two Pastors there now, are very old. They are praying for a young Pastor to replace them. But still the Light of Faith showed bright in these old Pastors eyes.

We ended today at Pastor Alagos Church the Tabernacle of Praise. Its name is appropriate also. Praise and worship was the end of a blessed day.

Hamtic Church Launched

Hello Grace Chapel Partners,

The Hamtic Church was launched June 26^th. Pastor Alagos said many accepted Christ as their Savoir, Thank You Lord!!! Also, they prayed for many to be healed from illness and healing in their lives. Pastor Alagos preached the Good News through the story of the Prodigal Son and many repented their lives with tears.

Two Bible Studies are going now and land to start the Hamtic Church was offered.

The Lord is good and faithful to bless our efforts to evangelize the Philippines in His Son’s, Jesus Christ name. However, we must continue to hold the efforts of establishing local Churches in our prayers. Our adversary, the devil, will attempt to destroy this ministry to the Philippine people. So we must be faithful in our part that the Lord has appointed to us through prayer and generosity. Please continue to be in earnest prayer for His servants and His Church in the Philippines. Pray that we are establishing His Church and the Gates of hell will not prevail.

Launching the Lord's Church in Hamtic Antique Philippines

Hello Grace Chapel Ministry Partners,

Getting ready to launch the Hamtic Church

We will be launching Church number 4 out of the 12 envisioned for the Philippines. Our launch dates are this June 22 & 23.

Hamtic is a town or in Filipino bayan in the province of Antique. Pastor Alagos said there is only a Catholic Church there and we would be the first Christian Church.

Pastor Carlos Zamora started a Bible study there and has about 20 people attending. Pastor Zamora is a musician so the launch this time will be two nights of concerts with Grace Chapel, Tabernacle of Praise and Hill of Zion working the concerts to establish more prayer and Bible study groups to form the Lord’s Church there. The concert will be taped to Air on Pastor Alagos’ Christian Radio Program “Intercessors Hour of Prayer.”

Please help us pray that The Lord Jesus Christ will establish His Church with His blessing there in Hamtic. Pray that the Lord would give the evangelism team boldness and the presence and power of The Holy Spirit. Pray The Lord is already opening the hearts and minds of the Hamtic people to receive His Gospel unto Salvation.

Student Scholarship Praise

Pastor Alagos put out a plea to help a teen boy in need of help to go to school. Two families stepped up to provide scholarships so we were not only able to help this boy but we added another teen girl. What a wonderful blessing you all provide so that these young people can complete school. Last year we supported 6 and this year we are supporting 10 students. Thank you all and thank You Lord! Please keep these students and their families in your prayers.

Prayers for our next New Church in Hamtic Antique Philippines

I have two things to share with you today.

One: Prayer for a potential new Church

Pastor Alagos has a pastor friend Carlos Zamora. Carlos moved to the town of Hamtic about a year ago. Hamtic is about 50km from Grace Chapel. Carlos started a Bible Study there and about 20 are attending now. Pastor Alagos is working with Carlos now to start are next Church there in Hamtic. Grace Chapel, Tabernacle of Praise and Hill of Zion are now praying for this new Church. Please help us pray the Lord will bless this new Church and that this new Church would be His Church, in His name with His blessing.

Two: A student in need

Can someone sponsor a new student? Please let me know if you can help? The Scholarship is $25 per month for 10 months. Let me know ASAP if you can help as the school year starts this month, June. If you can help I will get more details to you.

“Sorry, I forgot one thing, you know here in our church we have one member who is really in need of help her husband is jobless and their needs were financed by his eldest son working in a review center and his 3rd son is suffering nervous breakdown and we help with his medicine. Bro Steve we are praying if there is still a slot for sponsorship even like high school would be a great blessing for them. His brother I mentor him to be worker also, they are a potential family for God's service. Thank you very much could you include him for your prayers. God bless you.”

Hello Grace Chapel Partners, May 22, 2011

The Lord has been talking to me about prayer. Prayer was important to Jesus and when I read through the Book of Acts prayer is a main theme. Jesus and the early Church were always in prayer. The Church itself was launched while they were gathered and praying in the upper room. One time the church prayed so hard for boldness to share the gospel it shook the house. Everything of any importance needs to be thoroughly bathed in prayer and continually wrapped in prayer before our Lord.

As the time approaches to move to the Philippines I thought I would share things you can be in prayer with me.

1. As praise to our Lord, my son Steven age 9 gave his heart and life to our Lord about a month ago. We took him down the Imbler Christian Church where my 2nd Dad and father in the Lord, Leroy Stolle, is their Minister. Leroy baptized Steven and the Elders laid their hands on him and prayed for his life. They also prayed for us as a family for our ministry to the Philippines and will fund one the Churches there. Wow, the Lord was busy with many blessings on this one. Thank you Imbler Christian Church and thank You Lord.

2. I was approached by Mr. and Mrs. Boycie Javier. They found me through Grace Chapel Ministries on the internet. They are Filipino and live in Texas. They planted a Church in Camancijan, Culasi, Antique. This is only about 65 kilometers from Grace Chapel. Their Pastor left and they are in need of new Pastor. They have built a beautiful church building and parsonage and will support the pastor financially. We just need to help supply the Pastor. We are currently working on this. Please pray the Lord will bring forth the right person to pastor His Church in Culasi.

3. We are supporting 8 students with Scholarships this year. This is 2 more than last year.

4. This week many decisions will be made on things needing to be completed before we leave. These are the closing of our house, Juliana’s US citizenship and child support. These decisions are important and determine when we leave.

5. On July 10th we will be commissioned by River Rock Church to Pastor and start new Churches, Lord willing and by His grace, in the Philippines. I don’t have a time yet but you are all welcome to attend and participate.

Here is a note from Pastor Alagos:

Good news.... This coming March 13, 2011, we will have joint Sunday service a whole day fellowship at El Capitan Beach Resort, Igbarawan, Patnongon, Antique. Churches who will join us are: Tabernacle of Praise Community Church, Grace Chapel and Hill of Zion Community Church. We will have also Baptism service... Hallelujah!!! 9 members from Hill of Zion and 12 from Tabernacle of Praise will be baptized.

Hallelujah our two carpenters and two workers of the Hill of Zion Church accepted the Lord as their savior and they committed themselves to church service and also every Friday night we have our revival night there and the Day Care Center was full of young people every time we have our night service... God is doing great, for their lives were changed by God himself and by the power of his word. They were in tears testifying what God has done in their lives. To God be the glory, Please pray for us.

Please extend my thanks to all our brethren who have laid down their knees for us, God will reward and return back to you all the increase. Thank you so much deep from my heart. I always pray and dream to see you all in person someday if not here... in heaven.... just to say thank you for all your love to us.

These pictures are of our first of 12 Churches Visioned, The Hill of Zion Church at Macarina Barangay, Antique, Patnongon, Philippines.

The Lord seems to be moving quickly on many fronts in accomplishing the vision of 12 New NT modeled Churches in the Philippines.

I know you all know the story but as a refresher in the summer or 2009 we went to Grace Chapel, Philippines, to see what the Lord would have us do next in the ministries of Grace Chapel. The Lord showed me a very clear vision on how to plant and establish 12 new Churches in the Philippines.

The Vision:

Pastor Ruela

1. Launch a church from a live broadcast at a Barangay of the Christian radio program we support and have become popular there in the Antique Provence. From the live broadcast bible studies and prayer group form into a small local church.

2. Call a Pastor and provide for his support for one year as he establishes the Lord’s church in that Barangay.
3. Build a bamboo Church and Parsonage.

Hill of Zion members

Of this vision already one church is planted (launched), a pastor is on sight and the church and parsonage are being built as this letter reaches you. I sent you all a picture of the new Church building a few days ago.

Baptisms

In addition we have funding for 2 more of the new Churches. One done and two more funded, provided for. Only 9 more to go, thank you Lord and thank you all that have provided so generously. Thank you for your earnest prayers before our Lord for His Gospel being shared and lives saved in the Philippines.

The cost:

1. Launch the new Church $600

2. Call and 1 year salary for the new Pastor $1140

3. Build a Church and parsonage $1660

Total Cost ONLY $3400

Bragg family’s next step:

1. I will be retiring this May 1st 2011. My retirement is enough to provide for our living and build a house over the next year or so. We will be staying with Juliana’s father next to Grace Chapel while we build a home.

2. Target date to move to fulltime ministry at Grace Chapel Ministries in the Philippines is June-August this year. We have a few things needing to be wrapped up before we go but it looks definite, Lord willing.

Prayers needed:

1. That the affairs of our family to be completed before we go will continue to move well with the Lord’s blessing

2. My prayer and vision is to go to the Philippines with all 12 churches funded. We have 3 funded now and need only 9 more.

My request:

Will you fund these 9 churches at only $3400 apiece? Those of you who can and the Lord has provided please let me know as soon as possible. River Rock Church has committed to matching each Church funded.

My friends think of it, only $3400 to start and build a Church for the Lord. Not just a building, the Lord’s church is not a building but a family of believers with a place to congregate and worship our Lord and a Pastor to love and teach them.

How many will you commit to start? Some of you can provide for one and others can provide for many. We could do more than 12 if the Lord is providing. Maybe you know someone I don’t that would love to be a Partner of Grace Chapel Ministries and establish Churches all over the Philippines.

UPDATE: Hill of Zion Church at Barangay Macarina

Dear Grace Chapel Partners,

MERRY CHRISTMAS & HAPPY NEW YEAR!

I want to share updates on the new church Hill of Zion Church at Barangay Macarina.

Pastor Alagos and his team have been working well in the name of our Lord and the Lord is blessing the people there at Macarina. They have had more people come to Christ. Thank You Lord!

All the material for the new church building and parsonage has been arranged and we are sending the money for that now.

Also, we have our first new Pastor, Pastor Ruela. He has been working there since November.

I will be sharing pictures of Pastor Ruela and the new church build as they come in.

Here is a quote from Pastor Alagos. “With regards to Macarina Church, God is doing great, number of converts were increasing thanks for all your prayers.”

Please keep in your prayer the youth. Pastor Alagos is taking youth from Grace Chapel, the Mabasa church Tabernacle of Praise Community Church and our new church Hill of Zion Church. These youth are going to a youth conference December 27-29 a 3 day camp at Roma Beach Resort here in Mabasa, Patnongon, Antique. The theme for this camp is "Destined to Win". Many of the youth who have already come to Christ will be baptized there. Let’s pray many more youth will do the same.

What wonderful news for Christmas.

Macarina's Hill of Zion Church Update

The Road to Macarina

I want to give you an update on our new church at barangay Macarina's Hill of Zion Church.

First we need prayers for Pastor Alagos. He is having heart problems. He is resting and on medication while they figure out what is going on. Please pray for our Awesome God to heal him. Amen

We have had three Sunday services now at Macarina and here is a quote from Pastor Alagos. “Last Sunday we were there and the attendance were 18 young people 12 children and 6 adults because up to now Macarina is very busy doing the harvest and drying of rice grain. Good if this year we can start having there even a bamboo chapel and a little parsonage so that we can also stay there for a day or just two days a week together”… We will be making arrangement to build the bamboo church and parsonage so they can stay there as requested. It is a long way to travel back and forth in one day.

Pastor Alagos requested if we can buy a guitar and have a Karaoke machine repaired for the Hill of Zion Church. The hilly and often muddy road makes it hard to carry the ones they have back and forth. The total cost will be about $170.00.

One more big praise. Kenneth Mabry, son of Doug and Kim Mabry, who attend here at River Rock Church, will be going to help Pastor Alagos with the Hill of Zion Church. Kenneth graduates from Corban University this January. Kenneth is 22 years old and has a heart for missions. Pastor Alagos will be letting Kenneth live with them and involve Kenneth with the youth at the Hill of Zion Church. Also, Kenneth might be helping school teachers with English as Kenneth’s Bachelor degree is in communication. Kenneth will be there for 2-3 months and is paying his own way and volunteering his time, thank you Kenneth. Please pray Kenneth will receive a confirmation of God’s will for his life. Pray that both Kenneth and those he minister’s to there will be blessed and our Lord Jesus’ name will be glorified in this unique opportunity.

Planting our first of 12 Churches

Grace Chapel Partners,

Well, I’m excited to report the beginning of our first church is underway. Despite rain, again, the Crusade launched the past October, 9th, 2010. PRAISE GOD!

The new Church is called “The Hill of Zion Community Church” and 95 people accepted Jesus Christ as their Savior the first night! Many healings took place also.

Here are some quotes from Pastor Alagos:

“the weather condition was not good yet we pursue our crusade at Macarina last Saturday night and you know God did amazing things.”

“The crusade started at 6.30 Pm. Despite of the rain the plaza was pack up with people and even before the crusade starts they were all standing with their umbrellas and raincoats. 200 more or less people responded and I was in tears looking at the hungry crowd waiting for the word of God”

“46 members from my church, Grace Chapel, El Shaddai and 6 Pastor friends joined the team and saturated the whole place in the morning and afternoon of the crusade. They themselves testified the overwhelming responses and goodness of the people in that barangay. We go home late night at 11pm the way in going there was very risky and praise God for his grace for all of us. We have many contacts there and starting today 6 workers will be there for bible study/follow-up and this coming Sunday we have scheduled a Sunday service at 8am-11am.”

“Effective Sunday and so on Ptra Edna Alagos my wife will be a pastor of Macarina for less than a year together with her is Norberto Ruela Jr. our youth leader as worker/helper of Ptra Edna and I will be there also every Sunday until the church will be fully organized. Praise God the barangay offered the Day Care Center to be our temporary church.”

Edna is teaching the ladies and children during the week and with the youth ministor Reula. Pastor Alagos does the preaching and teaching.

When we organized everything, we will name the church as "The Hill of Zion Community Church.”

I wanted to bring you up to date on the progress of our first church plant. Please continue to keep this in your prayers. As you look at this date for prayer remember they are a day ahead of ous, 16 hours.

Here is the latest news, in part, from Pastor Alagos:

Warm greetings. Thank you very much for all your prayers. The following are the plans for starting our new church. On Sept. 17-18 we will have training and revival fellowship at Tabernacle of Praise Community Church. There will be 40 selected members from our church, from Grace Chapel and 2 churches that I’ve planted last year also a community church. We will have refreshing fellowship and I will be their speaker. Participants will help on the crusade to be launched on September 24-25 at Barangay Macarina, Patnongon, Antique 15 kilometers from the town proper.

And now more good news on the second church from Pastor Alagos:

I have a surprise update for you!! after we planted our first church this October I have already another target place in the school which I've assigned. I started a bible study there and we have already two families who have committed their lives to the Lord Jesus. Probably by November we can conduct crusade there and before the end of this year we can plant our second church. Please pray for us.

By God Grace we will start the plant of our 1st New Church the third week of this month!!!! We will need lots of prayer and fasting for those who are able. Please mark the third week for extra prayer.

I won't share all the emails but I thought this one was special as it shows the heart of Pastor Alagos and those that work with him. May the Lord bless us all as we unite to plant this new Church and harvest the Lord's own in the Philippines.

Dear Bro. Steve,

Praise God for what the Lord has done.!

We were on fasting for the past days with regards to our forthcoming Crusade to be conducted third week of this month to certain place in the town of Patnongon. I have already organize the group from our church to work with me and this week I am planning to meet the barangay captain for the schedule so that I can start announcing it in the radio. The plan will be a 2 night concert crusade and the highlight is the live taping of my radio program. There will be a massive evangelism during the day and after two days group bible study will begin 3xweek.Depending on the flow of bible studies( at least 3 centers)., in a 1-2 months time we can gather them in one place and finally construct a church and assigned a Pastor. My wife and I will be working with that pastor for a month time before finally he can work independently with my guidance.Bro. Steve please pray for us especially the needs for this 2-day crusade. We will be borrowing some equiptments from the other church and we will be networking some close friends to work with us. We have a lot to prepare but I know God will be with us and He will meet every need. We are banking for your back-up support of prayers, may God in his glory will visit that barangay and bring people to him. The Lord said when we praise him, he will draw near people to him.

Last night I dream that you and I were walking at the middle of a very wide field of rice ready for the harvest but I was in tears because many people just passing by, they just do the harvest anywhere they like and many grains have waisted away. Then all of the sudden fire from heaven came and consumed the feild ....there was a great fire and we run away for our lives. I woke up and I begun to seek God in my prayer and I remember our plan of crusade this coming October and I can no longer wait for that as the Lord supplied our needs so I said Lord we will have crusade this September and just dropby in the internet and read your message. Praise God, Hallleujah .... surely he will make things beautiful in his time.

Tomarrow i will be in that place to make some contacts and to meet the barangay captain so that I can schedule the final date of the crusade. I know that theres a lot of hardwork on this matter but with God's grace and favors we can do all thing through Him who strengthens us. As I shared last week I received confirmation that Pastor Alagos, our Pastor at Grace Chapel, and other churches leaders there in the Philippines had the same vision as I do about starting the 12 Churches. They have been praying for the Lord to provide the finances and I had been praying for leaders to carry it out… What a great confirmation of the Lord’s providence. Grace Chapel - 12 New Churches

I’m so excited I just had to share!

If you remember last year when we went to the Philippines it was to minister to Grace Chapel Ministries. But Pastor Kelly had also said “While you are there listen to what the next step would be for Grace Chapel… hear what God says.

Well, it was very clear we were to start 12 churches in three years and most the plan to accomplish this was laid out clear.
A year has come and gone with not much progress with the exception of generous donations building up in the Grace Chapel funds… thanks to all of you.
So now, I just received confirmation that God has been working on the hearts and minds of those in the Philippines who can accomplish the vision that they too have the same vision for starting the churches.

God has been working around the world setting into motion this vision (plan). Pastor Alagos and others in the Philippines have also been fasting and praying to start these churches.

My friends we need fasting and praying. That is what I’m asking all of you to do. Please fast and pray for these new churches.

We are working out details now and as the details come about I will be sharing it all with you.

"Last May 17 - 21, 2010 the Grace Community Church hold a VBS. The class was composed by 15 primary and 20 beginners. The 2 volunteer teachers was Sis. Lucia Mandeoya handling the beginners and Sis. Alberta Baculna handling the primary. The snacks was sponsored by Sis. Josefina Murias. During graduation the parents on the children attended and they're very happy for they witnessed the presentation of their children. The 2 classes rendered a song that they had learned in the VBS. The children enjoyed in their different activities."

Not My Life but Yours

I have been praying a whole new way.

I continue to pray for River Rock Church & Grace Chapel and their ministries, friends; supporters of Grace Chapel, family and Lord please in Your time send us and establish us in fulltime service at Grace Chapel.

But my new daily prayer is simple. Lord this day and my life are Yours not mine. May this day and my life be a blessing to You. I will do my best today to live my life without sin by Your power and grace and I want nothing of my life today except to live it in Your will Your way. I have no agenda… Let this day unfold as You will.

I no longer care about if I live in this house or my car nor do I pray about such specifics in my life. As many of you know I can say that boldly as I came very close to living out of my car last year. The Lord will sustain me and my family wherever we live. But I praise Him each day for this nice home and we are warm and have good food, etc. Whatever life the Lord unveils for me it is the life and purpose He desires for me. My goal is to be ready to live it. My trust in Him has been confirmed. Thank You for Your goodness, Lord. I hope this life is pleasing to Him because I love this life He has giving me. What better joy than to live in your created purpose and in the blessing of the One who created you.

I have some schedule of course but even at work the result of what must be done I no longer worry about but just do my best all day and live with blessed expectancy.

IT IS WORKING! I feel the power and presence of the Lord in my life to a greater degree. And I feel a greater purpose and see greater results, Kingdom results, in and through my life. I can see God working in and around me. I feel a deeper sense of awe about the Lord and a growing humility in me. I no longer wish to do anything in my own strength or accomplish my own agenda. I only want to live in His strength, grace, love and His purpose for this day and this life He has given me. And I have exciting expectancy and joyful praise all day.

I’m exploring with enthusiasm the reality that this is not my life it is God’s. He gave it to me, He gives me each breath, He died to make it eternal, He is preparing a place for me in heaven and He offers me abundant life right now today Ephesians 3:20. He expects me to live my life for Him. Philippians 1:21 For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain. The Apostle Paul’s life, after he met Jesus, was lived in the presence and purpose of Christ continuously. Paul is our example of a mature Christ follower. 1 Corinthians 4:16 & Hebrews 13:7

Jesus said He did nothing on His own but only what His Father had given Him to do. Our goal is to mature in Christ and to become “Christ like”. 1 Peter 2:21

I love You Lord! Help us all to become more like You. Amen

Encouragement - Praising God on Dry Land

Exodus 14:29 But the sons of Israel walked on dry land through the midst of the sea, and the waters were like a wall to them on their right hand and on their left.

I was looking for a good way to illustrate what is on my heart and how to communicate this Encouragement to you. Then last week Fox News illustrated a segment with a scene from Cecil B. DeMille’s movie the Ten Commandments. The scene is Moses, played by Charlton Heston, standing on the rock overlooking the Red Sea. The Israelites have been freed from the slavery and cruelty of Egypt and are on their way with all the spoil of Egypt to the “Promised Land” “full of milk and honey”. Little did they know that the Lord would lead them to the Promised Land through the Red Sea.

God had used many great miracles including saving them from the angel of death to free them. This last great miracle of saving them from death led to convince Pharaoh to let God’s people go and they were finally freed not only from death but also the horrible condition of Pharaoh’s brutal slavery. So now having been saved from death by lamb’s blood and the terrible condition of slavery the Hebrew are joyfully on their way to the Promised Land. In like manor we are freed from death by the blood of our Lamb, Jesus, and the horrible condition of our slavery to sin and now on our way to our “Promised Land”, heaven.

With that back ground said, here is my encouragement.

The Hebrews knew the Lord well and were saved from Egypt but their faith had not yet been perfected, matured or realized. Now the Lord began His work of becoming their God. As you read through Exodus the “becoming their God”, as I call it, happened through many test and trials. But the first test was the Red Sea.

Now camped with their back to the Red Sea and no way of escape Pharaoh realizes the military advantage and leads his army against the seemingly helpless Hebrew. When the Egyptian army approached it scared the Hebrews so badly they begged Moses to release them back to Egyptian slavery in hopes Pharaoh would not kill them.

They even declared “Why have you dealt with us in this way, bringing us out of Egypt?” Exodus 14:11

'Leave us alone that we may serve the Egyptians'? For it would have been better for us to serve the Egyptians than to die in the wilderness." Exodus 14:12

But the Moses said "The LORD will fight for you while you keep silent." Exodus 14:14

Moses opens the Red Sea and the Hebrews walked on dry land with the waters piled high on both sides. When they reach the shore on the other side the Lord drowned the entire Egyptian army, their enemy and trail, when He closed up the Red Sea behind them.

When Israel saw the great power which the LORD had used against the Egyptians, the people feared the LORD, and they believed in the LORD and in His servant Moses. Exodus 14:30.

My friends, sometimes trials or circumstances come upon us that cause great fear and the test or trial is so great that we even question our faith or the reality of our God. We may even become angry towards God.

But now I look back as one who is coming out of what I think was my scariest trial of the last two years unemployed. I see the dry ground on which I walked. Sometimes I even feared the way out by which the Lord took me and my family and sometimes trembled even at the high walls of the sea that surrounded us.

But for the most part of this trail our faith based upon our past experiences with our Lord sustained us. Although, sometimes, our older brothers and sisters had to come to our rescue and remind us “the Lord will fight for you today.”

And I have to say with all humility that the Lord’s dry ground which we walk on are your prayers for us and the many kind and loving things you all provide for us. Thank you my dear friends and family. Nothing was I able to do on my own power but only through the Lord’s strength and His provisions and through His loving servants are we able to survive.

I know that this trial is not over yet and more trials will come that test, strengthen and mature our faith. But these two things I know today:

My faith and my family’s faith in our Lord God are more real today than ever. Also our faith and love for each other, Juliana, Steven and I are greater and more intimate. Our intimacy with the Lord God Almighty and Creator of all is closer and more loving than we have ever known. It’s is hard to understand why the Lord God would care so intimately for me and my family but He does and I am basking in the reality and intimacy of Him and His love.

And secondly, although, I don’t invite more trails and the end of this one is not complete, I know the Lord is my provider and fear is only temporal but the Lords care and love are true and eternal.

And one more closing note. The Lord not only works through our trails for good for us but also as a witness to those who watch. The Lord works through our faith as a witness to the world.

"Then the Egyptians will know that I am the LORD” Exodus 14:18

Latest News for Grace Chapel

Grace Chapel started weekly services about two months ago in anticipation of me getting there fulltime soon. Pastor Alagos started the services on Saturday afternoons because he does two services at the Mabasa Church on Sundays.

Juliana and Steven are living there now and waiting for me to get there or I will bring them back here for awhile. Please pray the Lord will make which to do clear to me.

Juliana gave her testimony two weeks ago at Grace Chapel. I would have loved to hear it. She is preparing to be my interpreter for the services. What’s that old saying about most people would rather die than speak publicly. Juliana will do well. She taught school for several years. The Lord will teach and empower her.

Steven is adjusting and doing well in school. He just finished a week of chapter tests and got 100% on all but one and on that one he got 61 out of 65. Not bad considering he has to speak three languages in school. The classes are taught in English, tests are in Tagolog, the national language, and his classmates speak Kinaray, the local dialect. WOW! Better him than me!

Juliana just informed me the services are growing fast. “Lots of new faces” she said. There are so many children they just started a service just for the kids. The regular service follows the children service. Juliana and her sisters, Alberta and Helen, are leading songs and helping with the kids.

It is amazing to me the Lord’s blessing for Grace Chapel. He has me here for some reason (hopefully not long) and continues to bless and grow the Grace Chapel ministries.

No new pictures yet. Juliana hasn’t mastered sending pictures. Soon I hope to share new pictures.

We are in the processes of buying another hector of farmland to contribute to our support there. This was made possible by your wonderful and generous support. Thank you. We are getting closer to the time for me to get there permanently. It is all about the Lord’s timing. He will get me there in His Sovereignty. He owns the cattle on a thousand hills. He will provide the financial means when He is ready.

• As I share the prayers and visions for Grace Chapel Ministries I want to say that I believe The Lord has prepared someone or ones with the “silver” or “talents” to answer these prayers. This pattern of prayer, vision, ministries and the provisions of “Silver” or “talents” has been the beginning and continuing pattern of Grace from our Lord and Savior in this ministry. We have the privilege to be a part of the Lord’s wonderful blessings and be a part of His harvest. We thank you Lord for this wonderful privilege and honor to work in Your Kingdom, amen.

• February of this year 2009 Juliana, Steven and I started praying the Lord would send us to Grace Chapel for a visit. Our daily prayer is to be serving at Grace Chapel full time but the Lord has not provided the opportunity yet. So we administer the Grace Chapel Ministries from here in Vancouver, WA along with the help of Juliana’s sister, Helen. It was Helen prayed for The Lord to provide Grace Chapel. As I said before Pastor Kelly started the “bag of Silver” and many are contributing. In the last blog “The Lord Provides Many Wonderful Blessings” the ministries listed are just a glimpse of the increase so far. Only the Lord knows the full extent of the increase of our faithfulness in this effort. I know in my heart and from talking to the local Pastors in Patnongon many people have been saved, many families have been preserved and many of the faithful have been strengthened.

• So, because we can’t be there at Grace Chapel full time as of yet we began asking the Lord for a visit. As a family we asked the Lord in secret. We had no finances to make it happen but we also knew that if the Lord wanted us there He could and would make it happen. About two weeks later Pastor Kelly suggested River Rock Church send us and the board approved to use the money in the Grace Chapel funds to finance the trip.

• Pastor Kelly and the board wanted us to go and be refreshed in the Grace Chapel Ministry and see if the Lord had a vision for what the next step for Grace Chapel would be for us as a family, Juliana, Steven and I and also all of us who make up the international supporters of Grace Chapel, those who support Grace Chapel with prayers and resources.

We invite local Pastors, have an evangelism rally with preaching, prayers, bible studies, conversions, baptisms and a new fledgling congregation is started. $60 per broadcast and 4 per year is $720 for the start of 12 Churches

I will encourage, empower, train and help new Pastors

Build a small bamboo Church building with an attached bamboo parsonage in each Barangay

Each bamboo church with an attached bamboo parsonage is $1100 each or $4,400 each year or $13,200 total for all 12 churches

Provide a small supplemental salary for one year to help support each Pastor’s family

Each Pastor will receive a supplemental income of $50 per month for a period of one year as he teaches the local church its responsibility to support the Pastor and his family.

$20,000 to build our home. Juliana’s family has donated the land – this would be a small modest home of about 1100 SF. It would be brick and cement with and indoor kitchen, bathroom and two small bedrooms. A larger living room area for home studies.

The Lord Provides Many Wonderful Blessings

A LITTLE BACK GROUND

About August 2005 Pastor Kelly Backstrom of River Rock Church now in Camas, Washington offered a challenge based on one the parables Jesus used to illustrate the “Kingdom of Heaven”. This parable is about a man going on the journey and gave out "bags of silver" or "talents" to his servants to invest for him and when he returned how the servants used the gifts of money. All the servants increased the wealth but one. This parable is a good illustration of what we do with the resources God has blessed us with. We are the Lords servants and we are to invest our silver for the “Kingdom of Heaven”.

As a further illustration of the parable Pastor Kelly gave 10 of us $100 each and a challenge to use the $100 for the Kingdom. At the same time my sister-in-law Helen was praying for a Worship Chapel in her Barangay, Padang, in the city of Patnongon, Philippines. They had no place to congregate for worship in her Barangay.

Well, The Lord seems to work this way. We, I and others, were given the silver, by the Grace of the Lord, and 7000 miles away a prayer was offered up to the Lord for Him to provide a place of worship. One year later in August 2006 we were at the dedication of Grace Chapel in Patnongon Philippines.

This Christian Radio Broadcast Ministry grew from reaching 8000 weekly in the beginning to now 150,000 to 200,000 weekly listeners
Multitudes have been saved through this ministry including a community leader during the broadcast

We provided a guitar for a blind man that sings for food (he now attends Grace Chapel and provides songs of praise)

Grace Chapel Mission Trip - Pastor Alagos

Pastor Alagos was one of the Pastors that came to the Grace Chapel Dedication in August 2006. He gave a dedication message and prayed for God’s blessing for Grace Chapel and it’s usefulness for the Lord in the Patnongon community.

After the dedication Pastor Alagos shared he had recently started radio ministry in Patnongon and was going to shut it down because he had no money to continue to operate. He had not been able to find enough sponsors. Grace Chapel gave Pastor Alagos enough money to operate for a few months and then became one of his sponsors. At that time, the operating cost was $20.00 per week. The radio ministry has grown to reach 150,000 to 200,000 residents in the Antique Province weekly. The radio station is in Mabasa a Barangay in Patnongon a city in the Antique Province.

An additional fruit of this radio ministry is the starting of three new Churches in Antique. Pastor Alagos has become very well known through the radio ministry and has many requests to visit Antique communities. Some of these are in the mountain farm areas that are hard to reach. One of these new churches is a three hour walk into the mountains.

When Pastor Alagos has the money he will arrange to broadcast “The Intercessors Hour of Prayer” from a community that has requested him to come. He arranges permission from the Barangay “community” leaders and asks the Pastors of the area to come. It’s a “Big Event”! One of the Barangay leaders was lead to the Lord at the event during the broadcast. Thank You Lord for the power of Your Word, Your Gospel.

It’s this Barangay; Mabasa, that Pastor Alagos now lives. Someone donated a plot of land to build a Church in Mabasa Barangay. Pastor Alagos with the help of the Barangay built a small bamboo church with a small bamboo parsonage attached in the back.

The Mabasa Tabernacle of Praise Community Church has four services weekly. The Mabasa Church also has an alternative school program for those struggling in the school system. Pastor Alagos is a school teacher.

Someone has now donated a parcel of land on the main road. This land is in Mabasa and the main road is the east coast highway for the Island. This land has the vision and prayers to become the new Mabasa church building and Antique’s first Nondenominational Bible College. It would also be the only Bible College in the Antique Province. Mabasa is at the center and heart of Antique.

Pastor Alagos helped me while on this Grace Chapel Mission Trip. He arranged two services at Grace Chapel and two at the Mabasa Church for me to share the Lord and he was my interpreter. He is now teaching my wife, Juliana, to be my interpreter when I return. Thank You Lord!!!

Pastor Alagos also allowed me to talk to about 175,000 listeners on his radio program the night before I left for home. Wow again, thank You Lord!!! Pastor Alagos said most who listen are not saved and I shared the Gospel of Christ with them.

As with most ministries it is financially accomplished through the Lord’s people, His Church. If the Lord is moving you to be a part of this ministry here are the needs:

They need money to build the new church building on the main road and the Bible College.

They need money to do the radio programs in the other Barangays. God has blessed each community program with a new Community Church start.

The Lord Hears Prayers!!!

As you know we, like many others, are struggling with loss of jobs and hard financial times. But our commitment and desire for the Philippine Grace Chapel Ministries has not waned but the Lord has actually intensified it in our hearts. And I will add the Lord has increased the desire in your hearts for the Filipino people in Antique Province also. Thank you Lord! Thank you God for the opportunity of love provided by Little Mother. Isn’t God blessing us all through the privilege of a love gift from our hearts for mother and child?

Juliana, Steven and I began praying awhile back that the Lord would provide a way for us to go and visit Grace Chapel. That we could join at least for a short while with family and ministries that are all closely intertwined. Juliana’s sister Helen voluntarily administers the Grace Chapel ministries. Juliana’s family and many area Pastor’s, also voluntarily, help and provide the hands, feet, eyes, ears, wisdom and loving hearts to accomplish the Lords work there.

As I prayed I knew this could only come from God as I saw no way possible in this economic hardship for God to accomplish our request. We did not share this request with anyone but the Lord. I thought many times there is no way this prayer could be answered but I was compelled to ask. After all, He is the Lord God Almighty and He can do whatever He pleases. I just was not sure this would be His pleasure.

Sooooo… last week Pastor Kelly called me and said he had been thinking… it’s been almost three years since you have been to the Philippines. I answered yes we were last there at the dedication of Grace Chapel August of 2006. So Pastor Kelly suggested that since the Lords people have been very generous in filling the Grace Chapel support funds and it may be awhile before we actually go there full time that it would be good to send us there for renewal and to reconnect with the ministries… to come back recharged and recharge you all… bring back lots of pictures, movies, stories and new ministry opportunities.

So the River Rock board voted unanimously last night to make it so and they are also contributing to make it so. Oh thank you God and you all, His wonderful loving servants.

Now I will ask for your prayers

God has given me a wonderful message of His love for the Filipino people. I have rehearsed it over and over in my mind. I asked the Lord, awhile back, is this message only for You and me to hear?

Please pray that the Lord will give me opportunity to share His powerful message of love, salvation and care for them.

For the past two years we have provided scholarships for children that could not attend school without our help. Not everyone can attend school in the Philippines. Filipinos know, as we do, education is the key to helping their children have a better life. Even public schools have costs for tuition, uniforms, books, supplies, transportation and food during school. Parents must pay these costs and if they cannot provide then the child works and help support the family. Grace Chapel is located in a rural farming community and many families cannot provide for school without help.

With the exception of Salvation this investment has the greatest return. When the child graduates they can get a good career and typically in return they provide school for their brothers, sisters and other family members. They often help their parents in providing seed money for business, helping the family farm, etc. Providing education to one… multiplies the quality of life for many.

It’s only $20.00 per month to help with Middle School, High School and College. We provide biographies, reports and pictures of the students for their supporters. These kids are extremely humble and appreciative. They work very hard as they understand the tremendous opportunity provided. Their families are appreciative that their child will have a better life.

Besides the wonderful opportunity to “love your neighbor as yourself”… you will receive their love and prayers for you.

How Grace Chapel Started

It’s funny how the Lord works. You’re sitting in church on a Sunday morning, minding your own business – and then your world is turned upside down, in slow motion.

Let me tell you how this happened to me.

Pastor Kelly Backstrom of River Rock Church in Vancouver, Washington, issued a challenge to several of us one Sunday morning to take $100.00 each that he gave us, use it for God, and see what God could do with it. Kelly was trying to teach us the wonderful blessing of giving.

The next Sunday Jordan, age 10, and his mother Tracy, gave a presentation on how they had purchased donuts, set up a stand, and traded donuts for donations for Hurricane Katrina victims. They raised hundreds of dollars and then his Dad, Chris, matched the donations. Wow, a few donuts became about $700 for those in desperate need. They stepped out by faith that God would bless and add the increase.

I was struck by the thought that if God could use Jordan’s faith like that, maybe He could use me also. So I began to pray that God would help me to use the money wisely for Him. (It’s His money, after all.) I just wanted to be a part of seeing it used – to be a part of God’s blessing. I hoped that God would hear my prayers. I carried the $100.00 in my pocket so that when God showed me how to use it, I would be ready.

Soon thereafter my wife Juliana was talking to one of her sisters in the Philippines. Juliana is from the Philippines, and there a dollar was worth 55 pesos at the time. There was a 55-to-1 increase right there! I ask Juliana to ask her sisters if they had an idea how to use the $100.00 there.

I should tell you that the island of Panay, Antique Province, in the city of Patnongon, barangay Padag is where Juliana’s sisters live. It is made up mostly of rural farms and some fishing villages. Rice and fruit are the main crops. There are families who own small farms that provide for themselves, and those who own larger farms that employ workers. The Filipino people are rich in both faith and family. In fact, they count their relatives to the 3rd and 4th cousins. Juliana’s family is just that way. Her sisters, like Juliana, have a strong faith in our Lord Jesus Christ, and are involved in the church there.

I had asked if Juliana’s sisters could think of a way to invest the Lord’s $100.00. As it turned out, her older sister, Alberta, came up with a wonderful idea. She used the $100- which became 5500 pesos - to put little packs of household medicines together. Juliana’s family asked God to bless this sharing by providing opportunities to share the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ with those who received them. These medical supplies were then given to the poorer families. As a result, hundreds of families were blessed and evangelized.

At the same time this was happening, Juliana’s younger sister, Helen, had been praying for a chapel for worship. Patnongon had no chapel.

Providentially, another family, Rick and Bianca Streif, were moved to donate $400.00 toward the chapel. At first Helen was going to build a small bamboo chapel, but a structure of bamboo would have to be rebuilt each year. What to do? The Lord answered this need, as well, by moving Juliana and I and many others of God family to send money each month, by God’s blessing, until the little chapel was built. It’s nothing fancy, and not quite finished, but God is certainly blessing it.

Fast forward: just one year later, in August of 2006, we visited Patnongon, Philippines, for the Grace Chapel dedication service. There was a preacher from El Shaddai and one from the Assembly of God. I gave my testimony, and there was a lot of praising worship that lasted for almost three hours. There were about 50 people who turned out for this special worship service. It was an enormous blessing!There was also a big party, with a lot of the town’s people in attendance. The list of guests included a town councilman, the local policeman, the tax collector, the local veterinarian, the department of Agriculture, many teachers, those who hands had built the chapel and, of course, family members who were there to say “thank you!”

The Lord always seems to be reminding me of how Jesus took a few loaves and fishes and fed 5,000 people. That humble but powerful miracle was seen again with the $100.00 that my brother Kelly had challenged me with. Juliana and I and God's people continue to give what little we have, and God uses it to continue to bless multitudes.

Most of all, He blesses us all, as those who now have become a part of His blessings to the Philippines.

We provide seed money and counseling for people to start small family businesses. Often these businesses are operated out of their homes. The first projects were for Pastors and Evangelist that travel to the surround communities. These needed businesses make the difference of food and support or not. Most of the people they Pastor to are too poor to support the Pastor/Teacher/Evangelist.

HOW MANY FAMILIES CAN YOU HELP?

$250.00 can start a family business and a family's life.

$100.00 will purchase needed fertilizer and insecticides for most family farms and greatly enrich their harvest.

This is Pastor Jim.

Uses Grace Chapel for Worship Services and is a traveling Evangelist/Pastor/Teacher. We provided seed money for Pastor Jim to buy Pigs. He raises and sells pigs from his property. This is very good income for his family. He got married shortly after starting this business. I don’t have any pictures of Pastor Jim preaching but I can tell you he is a very dynamic speaker and his messages evangelistic.

Uses Grace Chapel for Worship Services and is a traveling Evangelist/Pastor/Teacher. He also has a radio ministry that reaches about 10,000 people in Antique Provenience. On the radio program he takes prayer request and gives a lessons from God’s word once a week in his one hour time.

Concepion Valdez Choir Director

Concepion is a part of Grace Chapel Worship Services and travels with the Evangelist. We helped her start a restaurant. We also purchased the keyboard and provided keyboard lessons for two young men, one of which is playing the keyboard here.

Linda Baculna

She is part owner of the land that was given for Grace Chapel. Her home is next door to the Chapel. We helped her start a store out of her home.

Grace Chapel Ministries

Since starting Grace Chapel in August 2006 I have received a call to teach the Bible in depth to the El Shaddai Pastors in Antique Province, Philippines. They also have several Barangay (neighborhoods) that are in need of pastoral care that I would be able to help with. So now I’m waiting upon God for the means to go.

However, more than two years have passed and God has not provided the means to go but has been very faithful about providing my training and to develop my much needed spiritual maturing.

So, while waiting upon God He is providing my every need and actively developing and using His gifts through me in my local church, River Rock Church, here in Vancouver WA.

And to His praise, the Lord has provided the means, through God's people, for many wonderful ministries at Grace Chapel. Seed money to start businesses, scholarships for school children, keyboard lessons and a keyboard for worship services, meeting medical needs, fertilizer and insecticides for farmers, household medicines for those in need, support for Pastor Alagos radio ministry, travel assistance for El Shaddai preachers and rallies, general assistance for those in need and lots of evangelism, worship and praise to the Lord these past two years. All in the name of Jesus and I believe his name is being glorified, amen!
